With more than a decade of teaching experience, Victor Nigri maintains a diverse studio with students ranging from preschoolers to adults. As a Suzuki certified teacher, he has worked in major conservatories across North America, and currently teaches in the city of Montreal and abroad.

I believe the most important objective in piano lessons is nurturing a lifelong love for music.

To cultivate a student’s passion for music, I constantly strive to foster excellence in both myself as a teacher and my students as performers. This includes refining the ear for a good tone, critical thinking about how to practice, and perhaps most importantly, the understanding that all music expresses an emotional state or reaction—it is a communication through another language. With the right orientation and a nurturing, caring environment, every student has the potential to develop their musical abilities and achieve excellence.

Ultimately, I want my students to grow into a sensitive human being—someone shaped by the beauty of art; an insightful, kind person.

My philosophy

Methods

No matter the level or background, lessons are customized to fit the needs of the student.

For younger pianists, I use the Suzuki method, which provides students with strong foundation of ear training and technique. Formal Suzuki training starts at an early age—between the ages of 4 and 6—, but it is never too late to start! To learn more about this method, click the button below.

For older learners, I blend a combination of piano literature with specific exercises, addressing both technical and artistic challenges, to best further the student’s musical development.
